Nurse Practitioner responsibilities involve providing a broad range of services that begin with an initial patient consultation and continue with ongoing care and assessment throughout the rheumatology clinical relationship.

- Order and interpret tests, counsel patients on preventive care, conduct physical examinations, and write prescriptions for rheumatology patients.
- Contributes to practice effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action.
- Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering joint injections or aspiration.
- Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens.
- Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

This position may supervise other medical staff, as needed.
This job operates in a professional office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Requirements (Education and Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in a biology or other science or medical field
- Must be in good standing with Montana MB and maintain current PA licensure according to the Montana MB requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in clinical assessment of patients; preferably in rheumatology
- This position will be expected to maintain current knowledge of industry best practices, trends, applicable federal, and state law; regarding their scope of practice

This role is not sedentary and would require the ability to appropriately lift or assist patients. Bending, standing, and walking, for long periods of time.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Standard hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. These hours are subject to change based on daily patient schedule. It may be required for the NP or PA-C to be available for supervising an infusion team on occasion. Weekend and holiday on-call hours are expected from time to time.
Travel to other MAC locations is expected for this position.
